Technology develops fast and has great capabilities to bring new possibilities. Every year, thousands of gadgets, devices and tools are released to enable things that couldn’t be thought before. As Technology spreads to every corner of the earth, it loses the exclusive character it once had and becomes part of popular culture. 

When technology merges with popular culture, it suffers a set of modifications, hacks, tweaks, and remixes to conveniently respond to specific needs. This reappropriation process is expressed in different delightful bottom-up dynamics that give room to rethink our current models of living. Sometimes these solutions are so creative that they are conceived almost as surreal and far more stranger than fiction. There’s true potential in them. 

This research explores the dynamics of reappropriation of technology that bloom in the Tropics and how these could touch people, inspire them and provoke them to find alternatives that rethink our current models of living.
